Sectors Gyms

A gym is joined after it is seen.

People join a gym once they know the floor, the machines and the crowd. In Specify, a gym's site shows all three, in the gym's own words. Problem reports from members land in one list, the urgent ones first.

Why a gym is hard to sell online.

A membership is a continuing agreement. Consumer authorities in Denmark and Sweden set rules for how it is sold and ended. So a new member wants to know the place before joining. These problems start there.

  1. In the trade

Members ask what is on the floor

Before joining, people ask which machines there are, and how many. A member also asks whether the one they use works today.

  2. In the trade

Nobody wants to arrive at the busiest hour

A gym is busier at some hours than at others. A visitor cannot see that from the street. A live count needs a trusted counter at the door.

  3. In the trade

A tour film goes out of date

A gym changes. Machines are moved and rooms are rebuilt. A tour filmed years ago shows a place that is gone. A visitor cannot tell how old it is.

  4. In the trade

A broken machine is reported in passing

A member tells the desk, sends an email, or says nothing. A report is easy to lose. It can also carry health details that do not belong in an email.

  5. In the trade

An urgent message waits behind routine ones

Questions about prices, visits and broken machines arrive in one inbox, oldest first. A report of a broken machine can wait behind a question about prices.

What Specify does about it.

In Specify · 1

The equipment, area by area

The gym lists its machines and equipment, grouped by area, with how many of each. A machine that is out of service is marked as such. The list is the gym's own statement. Nothing on it is for sale.

In Specify · 2

Typical busy and quiet times

The gym states when it is usually busy or quiet, over a week. The site labels it as typical times, not a live count. Nothing is guessed from members, visits or opening hours.

In Specify · 3

A tour that says when it was filmed

The gym adds its tour film and the day it was recorded. The site shows that day under the film. The day is the gym's own, never read off the upload.

A problem report from the gym's site

A member reports a problem from the site. They say where it is and what is wrong. A photo, a name and an email are optional. The form says it is not watched around the clock. For anything urgent, it says to call the staff. The member sees a reference on screen.

The most urgent first, with the reason

Every request lands in one list in the gym's admin. Problem reports start high. A message that says it is urgent moves up. One past its answer day goes to the top. Each row says why it is there, and how long it has waited.
